Network Pattern and Conditions of Road Infrastructure in Billiri LGA, Gombe State, Nigeria

Abstract
This study aimed at assessing road transportation impact on rural development in Billiri Local Government Area Gombe State. Multi-stage sampling technique was used to sample 156 respondents. The research centered on primary data acquired through questionnaire and indepth interview. Both descriptive (frequencies, percentages, mean) and inferential statistics (Chisquare) were used to analyze the data. Results indicate that almost half (47%) of the respondents are farmers, the quality of roads was poor (tarred-33.1%, untarred-32.3%, rough- 34.6%) and the chi-square analysis revealed a significant relationship between road transport and socio-economic characteristics of respondents (income level:
